What We Believe
Apostle’s Creed:
I (we) believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I (we) believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I (we) believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.
Confession Statement:
We believe the Bible is the story of God. It is the inspired Word of God. Scripture is clear and powerful in its message, sufficient for all of our needs, and our authority for faith and life.
We believe in the triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is holy, love, righteous, just, and almighty. He created all things out of nothing by His Word. He sustains, provides for, and rules the heavens and earth. He is our only Redeemer/Rescuer and will judge all people.
We believe God created men and women in His image and likeness for fellowship and to carry out the creation mandates. God created man and woman to glorify Himself and to be fruitful and multiply. Adam sinned and because of his disobedience the entire human race became (and is) alienated from God, depraved, riddled with sin, and totally lost.
We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ who added full humanity to His perfect deity, obeyed the will of the Father, died for our sins on the cross, rose again to defeat Satan, returned to heaven to pour out the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, and to presently intercede for His people.
We believe God has provided a great salvation for those who repent of their sins and His finished work; that He calls, regenerates, justifies, forgives, adopts, sanctifies, keeps, and will glorify them.
We believe in the Holy Spirit who has been sent to complete and perfect in us all the works that Jesus did for us. He seals us, convicts of sin, guides, directs, comforts, empowers, gifts us for ministry, and assures us of our salvation.
We believe in the reality of Satan, the fallen angels, and the kingdom of darkness. Our fight of faith and confrontation of “the evil one” demands belief and trust in God, effective use of Scripture, and power that comes from the Holy Spirit. Hell must fear the saints because we are God’s Children, we possess Christ and we are empowered by the Holy Spirit.
We believe in the unity of the global Church, the autonomy of the local church body, and the priesthood of all believers.
We believe that Jesus gave two ordinances to the church, which are the Believer’s Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
We believe in the imminent physical return of the Lord Jesus Christ, bodily resurrection of the saints, final judgment of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting conscious punishment of rebellious unbelievers.
Founding Scripture:
Matthew 7:7-8 – Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.
Matthew 16:18-19 – I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
1 Timothy 6:11-12 – Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
Revelation 3:20-22 – Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. -Matthew 7:7
